Amaryllis - 50 Watercolor Flowers Project (5)

Though it is now February I am just finishing up my Amaryllis painting for my 50 Watercolor flowers project. This is painting number 5 of 50 in the series. This is a beautiful pink Amaryllis with hints on green shinning through where the petals are still fresh from being in bud form.

It is my hope to complete one flower portrait per month and share them all with you! I have completed 6 portraits so far, so only 44 more months to go!  I am not in a rush to finish this project, I am very much enjoying the entire process of it.

I used a few different reference photos for this painting, I often do not find the exact color and layout that I would like all within one image. So I take elements from a few different images and combine them together to create the composition that I would like to paint.

Here is the finished painting!
